After the Storm
Mt Jefferson Wilderness, Oregon Cascades
Sunset light illuminates Mount Jefferson, an alpine lake and wildflowers in the Cascade Range of Oregon. On a warm summer day, I spent the afternoon backpacking into this area during an intense thunderstorm. The storm produced high winds, lighting and hail and photographing the sunset seemed highly unlikely. Luckily, just a few minutes before sunset, the storm moved out and the air went completely still. This allowed me to capture the peaceful reflection of the mountain glowing in the sunset light. After I clicked off a few frames, I sat down and watched the light show with about 10,000 of my best mosquito friends!
