If you are looking to own one of the highest quality fine art prints on the market today, my limited edition Lumachrome HD with TruLife® acrylic prints are an excellent choice. Acrylic face mounted photographs have amazing clarity, colors and depth. The final product is an exhibition quality work of art and is absolutely stunning to see in person. Made from the finest materials available, the acrylic face mount starts with an archival Lumachrome HD print, which is then mounted directly to a 1/8" sheet of TruLife® high performance, anti-reflective, scratch resistant acrylic. A museum grade 1/8” DiBond backer and HD Roma wood rear frame floater mount are then added to float the print off the wall. These prints are delivered ready-to-hang and eliminate the cost of traditional matting and framing. Just remove the print from the protective shipping container and the print is ready to hang on the wall. Prints are signed and numbered digitally during production. Choosing a Print Size

It can be a challenge to decide what size print will work best in your home. Please see the print examples below to get a feel for how different sized prints will look above a standard size 7 foot couch. I recommend getting a print that is large enough to adequately fill the open area on the wall. If you are struggling to decide which size to purchase, you can send me a well lit photo of the room you want to place the print and I will create a few mock ups to show how the print will look.

Print Size Examples. 16x24" Print (left), 24x36" Print (center), 40x60" Print (right) above a standard size (7 foot) couch

Limited Editions

All of the prints offered on this site are limited editions of either 25, 50 or 100, depending on the print. Each image has a fixed edition size that is set in advance. The edition for each image encompasses all print sizes and different types of prints. The prices for each print increase as more prints are sold in the edition. After 66% of the prints have been sold (Tier 1 pricing), the smaller size prints (12x18", 16x24" or 24x36") will no longer be available for purchase the prices for remaining prints in the edition will increase (Tier 2 pricing). After the last print is sold, it will never again be available for sale as a fine art print. I personally guarantee that no more prints will ever be made. The reason that I have chosen to only offer my artwork in limited editions is to provide value to buyers and collectors. In today's world, we have the ability to create millions of prints of image, but I have consciously chosen to limit the availability of my work in order make each piece special and more unique.

Artist Proofs

In addition to my limited edition prints, I offer Artist Proofs (AP) for discriminating collectors. Only ONE Artist Proof Print will be made available for each image in my collection. If you are looking for a truly unique and exclusive print, the Artist Proof is an excellent choice. These Artist Proofs (AP) are Lumachrome TruLife® Acrylic Prints in either 45", 60" or 72" sizes. The prints are signed and numbered with AP/1. A Certificate of Authenticity and a hand written note from the artist will be mailed separately from the print. The price for any size Artist Proof is $6750. For each Artist Proof print sold, I will donate $1000 to a wilderness conservation organization. The Wilderness Society, The Nature Conservancy and The Sierra Club are some examples, but I'm happy to donate to others if you have something in mind. These funds will help ensure that wilderness areas remain intact for future generations to explore and enjoy. If you are interested in purchasing an Artist Proof print, please contact me.

Choosing a Print

When you are going through the process of selecting a print, it’s a good idea to think about where you will display the print and the lighting in that area. Proper lighting is necessary to fully appreciate all of the details in my prints. Lighter images will likely work best in darker rooms. If you select an image from my, “Dark of Night” gallery, adequate lighting is very important. If you have any questions about print selection or lighting, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Questions and Answers

Q: What is fine art photography?

A: Fine art photography is created by artists who use the medium of photography to expressively communicate an idea, mood or emotion. This is quite different from documentary/representational photography, which is used to portray a subject in a literal and objective way.

Q: Has photography always been considered a fine art?

A: Photography hasn’t always been considered a fine art. The first photograph was created in 1826 and at that time photography was generally considered a technical craft. This view of photography continued until the mid 1900s, when Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams and many others worked to elevate photography to the level of fine art. In the year 2020, photography is generally accepted as a fine art, but this topic is still passionately debated.

Q: Does Scott Smorra create fine art photography?

A: Yes, Scott considers his photography to be fine art. He has the technical expertise to successfully capture, post process and print an image, but also spends a significant amount of time thinking about what he wants to express and communicate with his artwork. Sometimes he leaves it up to the viewer to decide what an image is trying to say, but he often writes about what he is attempting to subjectively express through his art. These thoughts can be found in the descriptions below each image on this website.

Q: How do I order prints?

A: After you have selected the image you would like to have printed, simply navigate to the image and see the print options available below the image. Payments can be made through a secure credit card processing service ("Pay with Card" option) or secure PayPal server. Once payment has been received, the print will enter the production phase and it will be shipped to you as soon as it's ready.

Q: Are volume discounts available?

A: Yes, I offer volume discounts for orders with multiple prints. The discounts are: 2 prints- 10% discount, 3 prints – 15% discount, 4+ prints – 20% discount. Larger discounts may be available for corporate installations. Please inquire for details. If you are interested in purchasing multiple prints, please contact Scott for a custom discount code that can be applied during the checkout process.

Q: How do I pay for the prints?

A: Online orders are processed through a secure credit card processing service ("Pay with Card" option) or secure Paypal server (you do not need a Paypal account to purchase). All payments through these services are encrypted and I do not have access to your sensitive credit card information. Local orders (Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area) can be paid by credit card, cash or Paypal.

Q: How much does shipping cost?

A: Shipping is FREE on all orders to the United States (continental US). International, Alaska and Hawaii may incur additional shipping charges. Please contact me for for details. All Lumachrome HD acrylic prints and Fujiflex Crystal Archive prints are shipped flat in an appropriate container.

Q: How long does it take for prints to be delivered?

A: Please allow approximately 4 weeks for delivery, depending on the size and mounting option desired. I make all of my prints to order, and they are carefully packaged for safe delivery using UPS/FedEx/USPS insured shipping with delivery confirmation.

Q: How do I care for my prints once they are on the wall?

A: To ensure the longevity of my art, there are a few things to consider when displaying a print. First, the prints should be displayed in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Second, direct sunlight should be avoided, since direct sunlight can cause prints to fade. If a loose fine art print is ordered, it should be matted and framed as soon as possible to protect it from environmental effects and to prevent scratching the delicate print surface.

Q: Do you offer a warranty on the fine art prints?

A: I stand behind the quality of all of my prints and I guarantee that you will be satisfied with your purchase. If you are not satisfied with a print for any reason, you can return it for a refund or exchange it for another print for up to 30 days after delivery (you pay return postage). If a print arrives damaged, please let me know within 2 days of receipt by emailing me pictures of the packaging and piece and I will exchange it. All returns and exchanges must be in as-received condition, and be shipped in the original or similarly durable and insured packaging.

Licensing

I license my images directly instead of working with third party stock agencies. This allows me to offer competitive prices for image licensing. Prices vary depending on where/how the image will be used and for how long. If you have questions about image licensing, please contact me.
