This gallery is a collection of my very best Oregon High Desert photos, which I created over a period of 10 years. Oregon's High Desert is located in the central and Southeastern part of the state and covers and area of approximately 24,000 square miles. Most of the High Desert is at an elevation of 4,000 feet and above and at 9,733 feet, Steens Mountain is the highest point. Western Juniper, sagebrush and wooly sunflower are the predominant plants in the area. The high desert is one of my favorite places in Oregon for landscape and nature photography. Sweeping views of the landscape, the sweet smell of sagebrush, hot springs, ancient lava flows and unique geological formations are some of the highlights in the region. Some of my favorite locations include: Steens Mountain, Alvord Desert, Pueblo Mountains, Malheur Lake, Deschutes River, Owyhee River Canyon and Fort Rock.
