Peak spring greens and lots of water in the Columbia River Gorge of Washington.
High water and peak spring greens at one of my favorite waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge of Washington. It was amazing to see the high volume of water pouring over the falls during the spring runoff. The water in this river is almost entirely spring fed which makes it incredibly clear and blue. Expert kayakers occasionally run the line on the far left of the waterfall.
A summertime display of beautiful Veratrum and wildflowers in the Mt Jefferson Wilderness. I found this beautiful display of Veratrum and wildflowers during an early summer backpacking trip in the Mt Jefferson Wilderness of Oregon. Veratrum, also known as false hellebore or corn lily, is a plant commonly found in damp areas of the back-country. I was really excited to find this scene, since Veratrum and other wildflowers rarely grow in the same location.
