New Release!! - Patagonia
The peaks in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares tower above crashing waves in Patagonian Argentina. I captured this image on my first day in Patagonia in the autumn of 2018. The weather gods of Patagonia gave me a proper welcome with wind gusts over 60mph (95kph) and rain/snow. Weather like this creates lots of drama but also makes photography extremely challenging!
Aguaja Poincenot surrounded by clouds and blowing snow. On this morning, the mountains were playing hide and seek in the clouds, but just after sunrise there was a brief moment when the sunlight illuminated the eastern wall of Poincenot. Shortly after I captured this image, a strong storm blew in and obscured the peaks for ~48 hours. The wind on this morning was likely blowing over 100mph on the summits of Poincenot and Fitz Roy which created lots of drama and atmosphere.
Cañon de Luz (Canyon of Light)
Late afternoon light illuminates a forest of Lenga trees in Patagonian Argentina. Heavy rains during the previous 48 hours created several huge waterfalls that are visible near the middle of this image.
A wind swept Lenga tree surrounded by mountains and glaciers in the fjords of Patagonian Chile. The Lenga trees are everywhere in Patagonia and are incredibly photogenic. This tree caught my eye since it tells a story about how difficult life can be in this harsh environment. Although half the tree is dead, the other half continues to live on.
