After the Storm (2019)
Sunset light illuminating Mt Jefferson above an alpine lake in the Cascade Range of Oregon. This is an image that I was not expecting to capture, due to a raging summer thunderstorm that rolled through the area about an hour before sunset. The storm produced high winds, lightning and hail and it was just a bit terrifying being up in the alpine zone during the storm. Luckily, just a few minutes before sunset, the storm moved out and the air went absolutely still. This allowed me to capture the reflection of the mountain glowing in the sunset light. After I clicked off a few frames, I just stopped shooting and enjoyed the light show with about 10,000 of my best mosquito friends!
